New blog - the plot so far

We recently moved to a new allotment in Edinburgh. The plot is approximately 60' x 30' and was in a resonable state but does have a lot of couch grass and mares tail. The site is organic so no spraying, just a lot of digging!

We treated ourselves to a new shed with a pent roof with the aim of collecting rain water. The shed is half painted but the other two sides will have to wait as weeding, planting etc has taken priority.
Here's what we have in the ground so far:  potatoes (Mayan Gold, Charlotte, Kestral, Kerrs Pink, Sarpo Mira) strawberries, gooseberry bushes, raspberries, shallots, rhubarb, sage, sorrel, chives, mint (well in a tub), black kale and squashes.

We recently sowed beetroot, lettuce, rocket and courgette.

The most exciting news of all is we are putting up a polytunnel so will be able to grow veg all year round North of the border.

I get photos up soon.
